Theater Pathway
Acting Focus
Directing, Management & Playwriting Focus
The Theater Program at Maine Arts Academy allows students to explore the collaborative theater-making process. Classes focus on acting and performance, theater games and improvisation, theater leadership, directing, playwriting, and creating original theater. Students may use the theater program to prepare for continued college study or as a pathway toward personal enrichment and artistic expression. Theater classes are taught in a supportive environment, allowing students to gain skills and experience as creative problem solvers, improving communication and articulation skills. Through creating theater in class, students gain perspectives in both classical and contemporary literature and learn to connect knowledge and personal experiences to make original work. At MeAA, we strive to guide students toward becoming producers and creators in theater, not merely interpreters.
