Musical Theatre Focus

The Acting Program at Maine Arts Academy offers four levels of acting instruction based on the Stanislavski Acting System.  Classes focus on classical and contemporary texts, voice and movement training.  Acting students broaden their theater perspective by taking classes in Directing, Playwriting, and Theater Leadership.  Acting Students are encouraged to audition for One Acts class where they can be cast in upcoming productions.

Suggested Courses

 

Level 1:

  • Music Theory or Piano

  • Intro to Acting

  • Sample Dance or Musical Theater Dance 1

  • Musical Theater Technique

 

Level 2:

  • Ensemble: General Chorus, Treble Choir, or Chamber Singers

  • Intermediate Acting

  • Musical Theater Dance 1, Jazz 1, or Tap 1 

  • Musical Theater Technique

 

Level 3:

  • Vocal Care and Techniques

  • Advanced Acting

  • Musical Theater Dance 2, Jazz 2, or Intermediate Sample Dance

  • Musical Theater Technique

 

Level 4:

  • Ensemble: General Chorus, Treble Choir, or Chamber SIngers

  • Advanced Acting 2

  • Musical Theater Dance 2 or an advanced dance elective

  • Musical Theater Technique 

  • One Acts
