Our academic programs are built on a proficiency based system, which empowers students through clear learning targets to achieve goals. All academic areas are differentiated to allow learning progress and integration with the arts. The student-centered culture encourages risk-taking and a growth mindset, which can transform learning environments to assure that all of our students grow.

Whether a beginner, intermediate, or advanced dancer, students will be able to experience a variety of genres, fitness classes, and may participate in creating choreography. Our dance students perform in recitals and an annual show.

MeAA's Music Program offers sequential music instruction, aligned with the Maine standards in visual and performing arts, in all instruments and voice. In addition to studying guitar, strings, piano, voice, and all types of instruments, students can also take part in ensembles including choir, select choir, band, percussion ensemble, musical theater, and string orchestra. Students must meet the NYSSMA standards at level three for a diploma with a pathway in music, level four for a diploma with distinction.

Our Theater Program allows students to explore the collaborative process of making original theater. Classes focus on acting, theater games, improvisation, directing, design, and playwriting. MeAA's Theater Program includes a focus in musical theater, allowing students to study the integration of the various elements of a musical theater production; directing, choreography and dance, acting and singing, and design.

The MeAA Visual Arts program aims to spark student creativity and celebrate the processes of art making. Students are able to experience creative achievement through various mediums in a studio atmosphere.
